Chapter 44. Two Boys
"Still hurting?" I ask softly. Even though I applied some ointment to his bruise, the blue mark is still quite visible. I'm puzzled about where the blood came from earlier. When I inquire, Andrew just shrugs his shoulders. He even winces at times, but then his mischievous grin appears after I'm done tending to him.
"I just bang into the steering wheel quite often. Just to keep you worried," he says, giving me a teasing smirk and a sarcastic glance. As I'm about to step away, Andrew pulls me into an embrace. It's as if the hug is a reassurance that we've safely arrived home, unharmed. I can't help but silently express my gratitude for His protection over us. I lose myself in the embrace when Rudi arrives with Jacob.
"Boss," he calls. "We lost track on North Street. Jacob asked for assistance in searching the area. Jimmy's also been asked for help. There's a possibility that the same car we saw in Ms. Krystal's office parking lot might be involved."
