Chapter 5

Leila’s POV

Bradley steps aside so I can glimpse Zeke and Eunice, sitting on the floor and laughing as they play with the toy car.

“So, what were your thoughts?” Bradley whispered in my ears.

“Huh? Well- I’ve been knocking, but you’re not answering, so I thought-”

“You thought what?” Bradley cut my remarks while giving me a weird look.

“I thought nothing! Anyway, the dinner is ready, so mom asked me to call you and Eunice,” I responded while avoiding Bradley’s eyes.

“Eunice, the aroma of my mom’s dishes is the best in the entire city. I’m sure you will love it!” Zeke stated while standing up.

“The main reason I visited this town is the food,” Eunice responded as she held Zeke in his hand, and together, they left the room.

Bradley grabs my arms before I can take a step, and I feel the strength of his grip as I try to leave.

“Wait!” Bradley said, his voice reverberating in the air as he pulled me in tight.
