Chapter 4

Leila’s POV

“Why is he behaving so oddly? Doesn’t he see that I’m doing all I can to keep my distance from him?” I utter, while running to the kitchen.

“Hey Leila Aragon, what is wrong with you? Why are you running? Is there an emergency or something scary in your room?” My mother asked, laughing at my appearance.

I laughed and said, “Zeke says I need to hurry, so I’m trying to move as quickly as possible,” feeling the wind in my hair as I ran. But deep down, my heart is still pounding because of my conversation with Bradley.

“Yes, please lay the table for your brother and Eunice. I can almost taste the food already. I receive a call from the council. There’s an immediate meeting, so I have to leave,” my mother explained while removing her apron.

“Why? What seems to be the issue?” I worriedly asked while following my mother’s every movement.

My mother heaves a heavy sigh and remarks, “I don’t know yet, but the council received a call from the Red Moon Pack’s Alpha.”

My body became rigid and my eyes widened as I was taken aback. I could not speak, but my appearance was enough to stop my mother from leaving.

“Hmm, Leila, you’re acting weird ... Looking at you know, I can clearly see that you know the reason for the council meeting,” my mother commented as she walked beside me.

The weight of guilt was apparent on my face, even though we hadn’t caused the disruption at the airport. I’m concerned because the council will blame my mother if the Red Moon pack gets angry.

“Leila Aragon, speak up ...” my other worriedly asked.

“I’m sorry, mom, earlier when I was waiting for Bradley at the airport, the alpha of the Red Moon pack approached me. He asked me to join him for a coffee, but I refused...” I stopped for a moment and looked at my mother, “But that alpha gets agitated. He was seething with rage as he cursed our pack and grabbed me. Then Bradley sees that scene, so he knocks out the Red Moon alpha.” as soon as I finished my story, I hold my mother’s hand and give her an apologetic smile.

My mother looked at me with a raging fury, but when she hugged me, her words were gentle and soothing. “I’m so glad you’re not hurt,” she murmured, her hands running up and down my back.

“I’m sorry for causing you trouble again,” I apologize. Since I was young, I would often get unwanted attention because of my striking beauty. I can’t help but wonder if my exceptional appearance results from some sort of curse.

“It’s not you who should be sorry. The alpha of the Red Moon pack should beg us to forgive!” my mother exclaimed while getting her phone and making a call.

In just a few seconds, my mother was talking on the phone. I felt my cheeks flush with warmth as I heard her words, and a smile spread across my face. I admire my mother so much. My mother had to show tremendous courage on her arduous journey towards becoming a Luna. She took over the obligation to Bradley for him to grow and become ready to be a true alpha. But my smile wipes away hearing my name mentioned and the incident at the airport.

“Mom, the council will be furious! How can you revoke their order to summon me?” I exclaimed as my whole body grew cold with nervousness.

“I’m the Luna of the Sapphire pack, so you shouldn’t be afraid. And one more thing, you’re not required to answer the council call because you’re not yet a member of the pack,” my mother remarks and takes the apron from me again.

“Should I be glad I’m not a member of the Sapphire pack yet?” I answered with a snout. This is another one of my worries. I introduce myself as a member of the Sapphire pack, but my mother hasn’t officially accepted me, and I don’t know why.

“Bradley had each member of the pack swear a pledge of loyalty to ensure the bond was strong. That’s why the former members have to repeat the process they went through,” my mother reasoned, but I still have doubts.

“My guts are telling me that the real reason is my mate... He is not a member of the Emerald pack, so you are preventing me from being a full member,” I respond while raising my eyebrow.

“Ha-ha-ha, that’s the main reason,” my mother laughs as we continue the cooking.

When we finished preparing dinner, my mother instructed me to call Bradley and Eunice. I look for my little brother like this, but to my dismay, Zeke is nowhere to be found, so I step into the stairway with a heavy feeling.

“I will ask Eunice to call Bradley, so I don’t have to go to his room,” I whisper to myself before knocking on the door.

But my feeling got heavier after a few minutes, a lot of knocking ... no one opened the door for me.

“Eunice? Are you there?” I raised my voice, thinking that Eunice might be in the bathroom. But I still got nothing, so I went to Bradley’s room.

While approaching the door of Bradley’s room, I once again felt my heart beating fast.

(Leila, calm yourself! Remember, you have a strong heart, so the bond between mates does not affect you!) I remind myself over and over until I stop in front of the door.

I took a deep breath before knocking three times...

[giggles and whispers]

I couldn’t help but raise my eyebrow when I heard giggles and whispers inside Bradley’s room. I can’t be wrong; it’s a woman!

“So, even if I knock on Eunice’s door for an hour, no one will answer because she is here in Bradley’s room?!” I murmured and intensified the knock on the door. I don’t know, but I can’t help but be annoyed to think there’s a woman with Bradley in his room. I couldn’t stop the explicit images from entering my mind.

“Bradley! Open the door you bastard.“

My sentence stopped in half while my fist stopped pounding on the door when it suddenly opened, and Jacob faced me with a frown.

“Leila Aragon, do you want to break down my door?” Bradley utter, smirking as he crosses his arm on his bare chest.

“You! What are you doing?! How could you? “

“Hey, what’s wrong? Is there a problem?”

I couldn’t continue what I was going to say when Eunice spoke.

“Perhaps Leila has gone crazy,”
