Chapter 37. Choices

Atticus’s POV

Jackson and I are watching the cadets train. Jackson is walking around correcting their form and giving tips, but I cannot take my eyes off Eryn. She is a force to be reckoned with. When she first arrived here about a year ago, I had my doubts because of her size, but she has proven herself every step of the way.

She is sparring with Cassie and destroying her. It is Cassie’s second year at the Academy, and she is one of our best fighters, but she cannot hold her own against Eryn. I feel pride swelling in my chest as I watch Eryn pin her to the ground for the third time in a row.

Eryn climbs off Cassie and offers her a hand up. She pulls Cassie to her feet, and Cassie hobbles in my direction.

“I am done getting my ass beat today,” she groans as she walks by.

“Who says?” I joke. “Get back out there.”

Cassie spins on her heels and jabs her finger into my chest. “I am fucking done.”
