Chapter 42. Failed
Eryn’s POV
I can’t help but fidget in the front seat of Atticus’s Jeep. I press my hand to my stomach and try to steady my breathing. My nerves are all over the place. I expected a wild night out with Cassie, but here I am with Atticus. I want to be mad at him for leaving for so long, but he smells so good I am having a hard time keeping my emotions in check.
He keeps glancing at me out of the corner of his eyes and I am getting more uncomfortable by the second. “Are you okay?” Atticus finally says.
“This dress is so damn tight,” I breathe out.
“You look amazing in it,” Atticus informs me.
“That’s just great,” I respond through gritted teeth. “I enjoy being uncomfortable for the sake of being pretty.”
Atticus lets out a thoughtful sigh. “I didn’t mean… I don’t know what I meant.”
“It’s fine,” I grumble under my breath.
