Chapter 252. Pretty Pink Dress
Love’s POV
“Sorry, Mummy, it was an accident,” Solara said, her little voice trembling as she stood in front of me, hands clasped together like she was awaiting judgment. “I was opening the gift that Granny sent us.”
I looked down at the pink wrapping paper torn to shreds on the floor and the bright splash of paint smeared across the front of her dress. The dress itself was a beautiful thing—light fabric, delicate stitching, something I knew she’d been excited to wear for the party tonight. But accidents happened, especially with children, and especially with Solara.
I knelt in front of her and wiped a stray tear from her cheek with my thumb. “Okay,” I said gently. “It was an accident. Next time, be more careful, alright?” I smiled reassuringly. “You’ll just wear the other orange dress.”
