Chapter 253. Panic, and Fear
Love’s POV
I scooped Cayden up into my arms without thinking, my movements frantic and uncoordinated as panic clawed its way up my throat. He clung to me instinctively, his small arms wrapping around my neck as if he sensed the storm that had just erupted inside me. I set him gently into the chair beside my desk, smoothing his hair with trembling fingers before reaching for my phone.
I called the head of security first.
My foot tapped rapidly against the floor as the line rang, my chest tight, my heart hammering so violently I felt dizzy.
“She just left?” I demanded the moment he answered, my voice sharp, edged with fear. “How could you not know?”
There was a pause on the other end, followed by confusion. He told me—calmly, far too calmly—that he wasn’t aware I had left the man
