“And you, I heard about your mate,” I carefully change the subject. Gavin stops in his tracks. His face falls.

“I regret not treating her as I should, and now, she’s missing,” his voice is quiet and sad. I’m shocked he told me this so easily.

“Is it Apphia?” I ask, gauging his reaction. Gavin nods. My heart breaks for Apphia. Poor girl. She has been through so much since her mom died, and now, her mate has rejected her. No wonder she ran away. I pray she is safe and finds perfect happiness wherever she is. Gavin looks at me, waiting for my outburst, but it doesn’t come.
