Apphia’s POV
When I reach the training ground, I survey it, noting it is mostly the men training; women are too, but there are a few, not more than fifty. The women’s training here isn’t as serious once they get past their basic training, but with these random attacks happening, they should make it compulsory for everyone to train. I would need to talk to my mate about it because I don’t want to talk with Duncan. The training field is large; some are fighting man-to-man combat or in their forms. They are all organized.
Once I reach the center of the field, more than a dozen warriors approach me to greet me. It’s awkward, and I keep our exchange short.
