Chapter 13. A Great Liar

I was in my office when my father visited me, and he seemed so furious that it looked like smoke was coming out of his nostrils. As I had already suspected, the day didn't seem promising.
"Liam, what absurd story is this that I've just heard?"
I stared at my father, not having the slightest idea what he was talking about, and gestured for him to sit down. There was no way to talk to him in his current state.
"Please, have a seat," I requested, "and explain to me what you're talking about."
"Don't give me the runaround, boy!" He scolded me as if I were fifteen years old, not the thirty I had just turned. "I won't accept you marrying a girl of such low status as you're planning!"
Certainly, Caíque had informed my father about Cecília's presence in my apartment, something I didn't want to happen just yet. My father remained standing, his face red, and I even felt a bit satisfied with this information.
