Chapter 17. Wedding Day

The wedding day had arrived, and I felt more stressed than ever. My father's imposition loomed over me like a dark cloud, and time was running out. Since that uncomfortable scene at dinner when I found Cecilia waiting for me in the living room, I hadn't seen her again. She seemed to be avoiding me at all costs.
Cecilia remained locked in her room, which, in a way, pleased me. I didn't want to spend more time with her than necessary. This forced cohabitation was a constant annoyance for me. I avoided staying at home, only coming back to sleep. It was my home after all; I shouldn't have to abstain from being in it.
