Chapter 63. Suspicions

When Cecilia finally arrives at the apartment, I can no longer contain the restlessness that has built up during her prolonged absence. I look her in the eyes and directly ask where she has been. Although I already have an idea of the answer, something within me yearns for confirmation, for the honesty that should exist from the woman who became my wife. If there was nothing wrong with her actions, why would she lie to me?
However, to my surprise, Cecilia blatantly lies, claiming she was at her mother's house. A feeling of distrust takes hold of me. The warning light goes off in my mind, questioning whether this is the first of many lies she might have told.
Unable to contain my frustration, I ask directly, as if skipping steps:
“Why are you lying to me, Cecilia?”
