Chapter 101. The Beta

Alex’s POV

"Alpha, we've captured an intruder on our pack land!”

I was astounded when my Head Warrior communicated this to me through the mind link.

This is Paxton, the pack everyone steered clear of because they were well aware of how I handle uninvited guests, especially rogues. No, I genuinely doubt this was just a random incident, there has to be more behind it.

"A rogue?" I growled, irritation rising to the surface.

"You won't believe this, but the guy is a Beta," the warrior explained skeptically. "He says he's from the Shadow Moon pack and was heading to the border when his GPS led him astray."

That significantly alters the situation. A Beta from an allied pack isn't really considered an intruder, we require substantial evidence before making any accusations against him. If his GPS malfunctioned and led him astray, per our agreement, we're obligated to host him for at least a day until he's able to proceed on his journey.
