My eyes widened in shock and my jaw dropped!

None other than Elyon was gazing at me, comfortably reclined in the back seat. How did he find out what I was up to? Could Jonas have betrayed me?

I stared at the Alpha rigidly.

"You thought my intelligence was something easy to take advantage of, didn't you? If you're looking for a way out, why not just ask directly instead of resorting to an unsafe way to do so?” he remarked dryly, as if we were simply having an ordinary conversation. His tone was calm, almost patronizing, as if he relished the power he held over me in this moment.

At last, I found my voice again. "Would you have let me go? I know you're in a bind with Paxton and might be keeping me here as leverage. Do you really think I'd just walk into your office with the news that I want to leave then?” I snapped at him, frustration seeping through my words.
