Ezra’s POV
The silence after my words was sharp, almost heavy. Layla’s face showed confusion, her eyes wide, her lips parted slightly as though she couldn’t believe what I’d just said.
“She’s obsessed with me,” I repeated in a calm but firm voice.
Layla blinked very hard. “Ezra… what do you mean? Chloe? No. That doesn’t make any sense.”
I leaned slightly forward into my knees. “It makes more sense than you think. You are blind to it because you see her just as your friend. I live with her. I know what she is capable of.”
She shook her head quickly, maybe too quickly. “No! Chloe isn’t like that. She is kind, she’s gentle. She wouldn’t hurt a fly. How can you just sit there and say she is obsessed with you?”
“She is,” I said flatly. “Layla, Chloe is not who you think she is. She has crossed lines no sister should ever cross.”
Her lips quivered as she spoke. “Crossed lines? What do you mean?”
