Chloe’s POV
I left Ezra’s house feeling overwhelmed. I don’t know if they mean well, but I can still hear their voices in my head.
“Chloe, we’ll be there for you every step of the way,” Layla said. “This is the right thing to do. A mental home will help you heal.”
Ezra said little. He just looked at me. “Don’t play with us,” he warned. If you say yes, you can’t change your mind.”
I nodded like I was processing everything, but inside I was bubbling with anger. The idea was absurd—an asylum? Like I was some mad person who couldn’t take care of herself.
The drive home seemed to take forever. My heart made rapid beats, but my face remained calm. I finally made a call to Grace. I needed to plan my next move. I needed someone who thought like I did.
“Grace,” I said when she picked up the phone. “I just left Ezra’s. They want me to get help.”
“Good,” she said. “Did you say yes?”
