Chapter 16. When It Comes to Business
Layla’s POV
Ezra and I sat there for a while in that position. When I was calm and had realized the state we were in, I quickly pulled away from him.
“I-I… I’m sorry,” I said in a low voice with my head hung low before turning away from him.
Why was I stammering?
I mentally slapped myself for stammering. My face was a mess from all the tears I shed.
What was wrong with me?
“No, it’s fine,” he said before chuckling nervously.
I let out a deep breath and cleaned my face with my palm, hoping to get rid of the tear stains, which I knew would be futile but still did anyway.
I released a sigh and turned to him.
He was biting his lips.
Was he nervous?
Wow, I never thought he was capable of emotions.
“T-t-thank you,” I said, stammering again.
Ugh, this was frustrating. What is wrong with me?
“It’s no problem. It’s the least I could do, I couldn’t just sit there and let you drown.” He replied.
