Layla’s POV

I ignored Ezra’s presence at the beach as though I wasn’t shocked.

I walked past him and headed to where I parked my car.

The moment I set eyes on my car, I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding.

I walked over to my car with a small smile, grateful that it was still in the same state as I left it.

On a normal basis, I wouldn’t be so worried, but now it was one of my most valuable possessions, so I couldn’t be careless about it.

I hopped in the car and took a deep breath.

I loved the scent of my car. I had personally chosen a specific scent for it.

The scent reminded me of my mother. I stumbled across it once and immediately bought it as it smelt similar to my mother’s.

It was a scent that felt like home.
