Chapter 14
When Max returned home, he found the back of his door open. It was as if some intruder had made its way to his house and had occupied a dark space that he couldn’t easily see.
“Who is that?” Max managed to force himself to yell.
But there was no response.
“Who broke into my house? Show yourself right now.”
Out of nowhere, a man in a dark coat appeared and took a seat in the middle of Max’s sitting room. He didn’t appear too pleased with the tone of Max’s voice.
Max could feel a cold sweat pouring down his face. “What are you doing in my house?” Max said.
The man took his time responding. He didn’t seem to have much interest in answering. Max couldn’t help but feel annoyed at this.
“Who are you? What is it you want from me?” Max managed to say in a quieter tone as he realized it would be better to remain calm.
“Oh, I think you know who I am.”
