She closed her eyes, conjuring the image of her sister in her mind. She pictured her sibling as she had been in her younger days—laughing with friends and wearing a smile that warmed her heart. Memories flooded her of the teasing and the times her sister had been her protector. Drawing strength from the memory of her sister's unwavering love, she whispered softly, "I'm going to get you back. No matter what it takes, I'll do whatever it takes to bring you home."
Maya stood up from her chair and made her way towards the doorway, her determination leading her to the bedroom where she suspected the woman was hiding. Though the door was closed, she pushed it open with determination.
Inside the bedroom, she found the woman lying in bed, sleeping peacefully with her chest rising and falling in a gentle rhythm. Maya approached the edge of the bed, observing the woman's peaceful expression.
