"Why not?" Thomas asked.
"He's my brother," the receptionist said. "I don't want to betray his trust."
"He's dying," Thomas said. "I need to see him."
"You should call him," the receptionist said. "I'm sure he would like to hear from you."
Thomas sighed.
"He doesn't want to see me," he said. "I know that."
"I'm sure he does," she said. "He's been asking about you."
