Chapter 59. Carl
I held my head in pain. I blinked my eyes open and shut it twice, adjusting to the light coming from the ceiling.
"Hey, you're awake now. How are you?" a man asked.
I looked at the man when I attempted to sit up.
"Who are you? Don't come near me," I warned, pointing at him.
"Relax... I'm Carl," he introduced himself, cautiously raising his hands before extending one towards me. I gave him a wary look. He raised his hands as if surrendering.
I adjusted my sitting position, but what concerned me more was the strange sensation in my stomach. I swallowed hard, trying to feel it through my touch. I looked at the man, raising his eyebrows as if inquiring.
"My baby?" I asked, my memories of what happened before I passed out still clear in my mind. I still vividly remember what just happened to me. "How's my baby?" I repeated when he didn't respond. "Are you deaf?! Should I repeat myself?" I asked impatiently as he avoided eye contact.
