"Now, I'll just take you to the packhouse, where Alpha will meet you," explained Beta-Elsa. She had introduced herself in a manner befitting an Alpha and carried out all of the responsibilities that were expected of her in the event that another Alpha, or Alpha in our instance, came. Because neither she nor I recognized each other, I can only assume that she is a recent addition to the group.

Myrtle showed courtesy by saying, "I appreciate it, Beta Elsa," which caused the Beta wolf to smile. I'm relieved that she handled the situation with tact and diplomacy, because I don't think I could have been in the frame of mind I'm in right now. Juan took my hand in his and squeezed it once, as if he could feel the tension building up inside of me and was ready to release it at any moment.

"Although Alpha really does want to meet you, you didn't mention the reason for the visit while booking it," she added as she excitedly walked ahead of us toward the enormous buildin
