As they drove, Ryeon felt the tense atmosphere in the car. Lucy, sitting beside him, remained silent in complete silence since they left home. Jaesun, in the backseat, even huffed and slammed the door shut when he got into the car, but then he grabbed his phone and remained that way.

It was uncomfortable because Ryeon knew that the way Lucy's mother treated her hurt her deeply. He didn't understand why the woman had to be so cruel, but he didn't want to see his girl in that state.
