Chapter 30. Now I Know Why I Am Different
Victoria’s POV
Earlier, I couldn’t recall, but now that I had seen her up close and witnessed some of my memories, I suddenly remembered a few things.
I remembered how she had been there when I fell into the lake as a child, while my adoptive parents were inside the lakeside house preparing dinner for me. It was she who had protected me from drowning before disappearing into thin air right after. I had always assumed it was just a figment of my imagination.
I also remembered that on my eighteenth birthday, I had run into her on my way back to the house after grocery shopping. I had lent her some money because she had appeared in front of me dressed as a beggar. At that time, she had gripped my hand tightly, and a strange mark was left behind on my skin after she pulled away. The mark was still there. I vividly remembered her words from back then.
