Chapter 34. I Don't Want to Die Like This!

Victoria's POV

I don’t want to admit it, but seeing her concern-filled eyes actually made me feel a bit touched.

Sighing loudly, I smirked before saying, “Don’t worry, baby. I got this.” I winked at her, pulled my hair up to tighten my ponytail, and yanked a thick branch off a nearby tree to use as a club against these guys, who were dead-set on making my night so much worse than it already was.

As the first man lunged at me with his knife, making the fatal mistake of hesitating just like his buddy had done, I swung the heavy branch through the air, cracking it with full force against his hand. The knife flew from his grip. I spun on my heel, swinging the branch in a wide arc to strike the second guy, forcing him to drop a dagger he had just pulled out of his jacket while I was busy dealing with the first one.
