It was one thing to just be looking at her picture or to get a glimpse of her as she swooned, but it was entirely another thing altogether as I got to witness her in the flesh. The aroma of blood rose from her like the sweetest perfume and I closed my eyes to battle my new demon. He was no match for myself and my dragon, nothing would ever push me to hurt her, no matter how great the temptation. Besides, I’d lived with a vampire for so long I knew where to go to fill my thirst.

“Cai?” Bre stared at me, her eyes wide at first and then a vibrant silver flame flashed in them. “What the hell happened to you? You’re covered in blood!”

Was I? All of that didn’t matter to me. All that mattered was her. My mate continued to watch me, there was no fear in her expressive orbs, just the same fascination I had with her. Too open, if Jasper were to notice this, it could ruin my plans. I opened my mouth to talk to her, to say anything, when the very man interrupted me
