Siv ushered me off into another room, only pausing long enough for Jasper to whisper to him, out of the range of the others. Sergio’s eyes found mine, a hunger still gleaming in their depths. Flushing, I looked away. He’d tried to hurt me in the most awful way, but my body couldn’t help but remember the time I had shared with him. The moments he was sweet kind, all of that had been a lie all this time. Who was the real Sergio? I was curious, but I’d never stick around him long enough to find out.
“Come on.” Reaching back, Siv grabbed my hand, pulling me after him. Every step took us away from the Council and Sergio.
Jasper stayed behind, his voice rising and falling as he argued with them. What would his ultimate decision be about me?
