My vision was dark, Kerrin replaced by shadows at the edges of my vision by this point My lungs screamed for air. My body went limp in her grip. Laughing, she tossed me to the ground, smashing my head against the wall. I whimpered in protest, the only thing I could manage. She followed me to the ground, kneeling over my body, pinning my head to the side with one arm, exposing my throat. I wish that I could see Cai one last time. I wanted to explore these feelings, just why did everything feel so different? I barely knew him, and all I wanted was for him to be right here beside me before my final moments.

Kerrin chuckled. “I will give you one note of praise. Your blood is very sweet. You’re like a dessert that I cannot wait to eat every last bite. And I don’t like my meal growing cold on me, so enjoy your few minutes of life I’ve given you.” She opened her mouth again, her fangs dripping with my blood already.

My eyes rolled up, my body going still.
