Chapter 42. My Biggest Fear
Ryder POV
I stood in front of the library door and puffed out a breath. I didn’t want to think much about my encounter with Elara; I was sure she had grabbed the hint by now and stopped pushing these things.
I made sure to make it clear to her.
Hopefully, she will back away now.
I lifted my hand and knocked at the door. I knocked twice before I heard King Xandro’s deep, commanding voice: “Come in.” I pushed the door open and stepped in.
I knew he would be here; this was the third place you could find him if he was clearly not in his chamber or office.
“Good evening, Dad,” I mumbled. He spared me a quick glance and instantly looked away, a frown settling on his forehead.
He had left dinner in anger; all of them had, but that’s not why I was here.
I needed us to talk about something important.
“I want us to talk,” I blurted out, and his frown deepened. Not looking at me, he muttered, “You never give a fuck about coming back
