“I know you are there,” he said, moving forward. “You can now come out; she is gone.”

I remained flat on the ground, my heart pounding fast. I heard footsteps striding toward my direction.

Fuck it.

How did he know that I was here?

As if he could hear my thoughts, he said with a sigh, “I can smell you, so no need to continue hiding.” My heart skipped, and suddenly I felt someone pull me off the ground, and I came face-to-face with those dark, sulking eyes.

I flashed him a nervous smile, but he glared at me instead, wiping the smile off my face.

His hand was still holding me by the collar of my dress.

“How much did you hear?” he asked.
