“Seriously?” Jeff said, his voice dripping with disbelief, his brows furrowing as his face twisted into the same shock I had worn when I first found out myself.

“Yes,” I replied calmly, leaning back in my chair. “I was just as surprised.”

He blinked a few times, trying to process the words. “And she’s working here, for you?”

“Is there a problem with that?” I countered, my tone even though I already knew where his mind was heading.

Jeff leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees. “Roman, you know how Ethan can be,” he began, his voice lowering like he was about to drop a heavy truth. “I’m sure he can go to any lengths possible to bring down your company. What if she’s still working with him? What if he sent her here to get more information, to sabotage everything you’ve built?”
