Roman's POV
Our car finally pulled up in our driveway, the familiar dark bricks and tall trees greeting us like they always did. The moment the driver stopped the engine, I didn’t waste any time. I pushed the door open and stepped out, letting out a silent breath as the cool breeze hit my face. I adjusted my suit jacket almost out of habit, smoothing the fabric down as I headed toward the front door. My pace was steady but tired, and I could hear Lauren’s softer footsteps following close behind me.
Today had drained everything out of me. Every last drop of energy I thought I had left in me was scraped out at the office. Work had piled up like a mountain.
