Chapter 14. Am I Cursed?

Freya’s POV

“Fired?”

The word slipped out of my mouth before I could stop it.

For a moment, I simply stared at my boss, certain I had heard him wrong.

“What… what have I done?” I asked, my voice trembling. “Sir, there must be some mistake. How can I be fired just like that?”

He looked uncomfortable, shifting slightly where he stood.

“I’m sorry, Miss Freya,” he said again, his tone heavy. “But the decision wasn’t entirely mine.”

My brows furrowed in confusion.

“What do you mean?”

He sighed. “The company has a new partner. He recently bought half of the shares. And he doesn’t want you working here anymore.”

The words felt unreal.

“Doesn’t… want me?” I repeated slowly.

“Yes,” he said quietly. “He made it clear, he doesn’t like you and doesn’t want to see you in the office again. So he asked that you be fired immediately.”

For a moment, everything around me seemed to spin. It felt like some cruel magic
