Chapter 29. Eminent Threat

Emma’s POV

Under attack! What did they mean?

My heart was racing as I heard the urgent shout. “Everybody take cover!” My feet pounding the floor as I rushed to the door. I flung it open, revealing a chaotic scene in the hallway.

Servants and guards hurried past me, their faces set in determined expressions. I saw the pack’s emblem on their uniforms, the symbol of the pack’s legacy. My breath caught in my throat as I realized the gravity of the situation.

I dashed out into the hallway, my feet pattering on the cold stone floor. I followed the stream of guards, my eyes widened with fear and excitement. They poured into the courtyard, where more guards awaited, armed and ready.

I could hear their voices at a distance as they gave more orders, and the words became incompressible as more voices resounded simultaneously.
