Only Him - 42. Transition

Lisa's POV

As soon as the door clicks shut, Alex mutters, "As much I would love to stay and chat, I really do have to get back to work."

"Be quiet. You can talk for five damn minutes." I huff, rolling my eyes.

It was a bad move on my part since he cocks his head to the side and his eyes go dark.

"Care to rephrase that darling?" he growls, steeping towards me.

With a sigh I mutter, "I'm sorry, but just please give me five minutes to talk and then you can go back to work."

His eyes shift back to their normal soulless brown and he says, "Fine. Talk."

"I just wanted to make sure that you were okay." I mumble, "You were very tense when we got here."

He rolls his eyes with a shake of the head, "It just isn't my favorite part of the house."

"Okay, but why?" I question, scrunching my eyebrows together.

He lets out a harsh sigh and snaps, "That is none of your business."

"I think it is, Alex. You're my mate!"
