Chapter 11
We moved slowly so as not to make any sound. The ground was full of pieces of broken glass that injured my hands and knees, as well as Manar. When we left, a garbage truck was parked next to the girl’s fence. Manar jumped into it, then I jumped in as well. I almost screamed with joy when we found Iman inside the car, but she sped up. She put her hands on my mouth. After minutes passed, like hours, the car moved for a long time. While it was moving, I saw Manar’s clothes covered in blood, but her face showed no signs of pain.
I screamed at her. “What is this blood? Is there a wound?”
Iman laughed and then answered, “No, it is not my blood, but the blood of this guard who was standing next to the window threatening you every night. I ran into him when I was leaving. He was sleeping, so I stabbed him and ran away.”
