Chapter 14
He worked for Zakaria’s uncle as a cleaner and then as a guard in one of the factories. I was still inside the care home for orphans, and when I and my sisters managed to escape from the care home, Waseem had been working with that man for about two years. Well, let us, the reader, go back to complete what had happened to me once we finished. Our food on the first morning was inside Mr. Mahmoud’s furniture store.
After we finished our meal, we put on other clothes that we had in the plastic bags, then we went down to the first floor, which was empty and there were no workers, and Mr. Saeed was sitting at the desk.
We approached him and then said hello, and Manar started talking, saying: “We’re sorry we’re late”
Saeed looked at him with a smile on his face, “But you are early. It is still seven-thirty in the morning and work hours start at ten. You can take a tour inside the store or go out to buy some sweets but do not stay away. We will go to the doctor at ten.”
