I snapped. It was the only thing I could do. My anxiety level was alarming.

Especially since he briefly remained silent.

“I didn’t find a proper way to tell you,” He finally said. “I believed it to be a matter between you and your parents.”

“You said you wanted a partner. I said to him, “Is this how you handle someone who has faith in you? You purchased me after realizing that I signed under dubious circumstances, but you failed to inform me?”

We had a long period of stillness, and I wondered what else he was keeping from me. He didn’t have a reply to my question. Why was he this way? Who was he before we met? What did he have in the basement of his house?

And most of all, who was in reality Vincent Baker?

I did not know. Most likely, I’d never know. I didn’t give a damn at the time.

“I have to go now,” I told him bluntly.

He just moved away from the doorway without stopping me.
