Chapter 31. Witness
Cristine’s POV
After Yuri, police officers got inside too and pointed their guns at Miko. He did nothing but raise both of his hands as a sign of surrender, and the police put handcuffs on him.
Yuri ran to me and removed the handcuffs on my hands and feet. He covered me with a blanket, and I cried on his chest.
“Shh. It’s okay; you’re safe now,” he whispered and caressed my back.
“Thank you.” I've never been vulnerable like this. I hate the fact that someone is rescuing me. I have gotten used to being the one who saves myself.
Inside his arms, I feel safe. There’s something in his warmth that makes me calm, but why did I feel a little disappointed that his face was the one that I saw earlier?
***
Yuri stopped his car in front of my apartment. I’m still staring blankly when he holds my shoulder. I looked at him, who was looking at me with concern in his eyes.
“We’re here,” he said, and that’s when I realized that we had already arrived.
