Chapter 34. Going Back

Cristine’s POV

“I’m so sorry, Yuri,” I whispered as I touched his face.

He smiled and chuckled, even though I knew that was a fake one. We were in that situation when his phone suddenly rang. Yuri quickly answered it.

“Yes, Pia?” he said.

I can’t hear what the girl is saying from the call, but I’m sure that it was a serious one when I saw how Yuri’s face suddenly changed.

“What?!” He stood up.

My eyebrows furrowed when he looked at me with worried eyes. My heart beats rapidly for an unknown reason. I suddenly felt like something wrong had happened.

I stood up and stared at him while he listened over the phone.

“Okay, I’ll be there in a second,” he said before ending the call.

“Yuri, what’s happening?"

“Your father...”

My eyes widened. We quickly went to the elevator and pushed the 16th floor number. Inside the elevator, I started to walk back and forth while waiting to arrive at the floor. Why did this take so long?
