Chapter 12

My father chuckled lightly, his tone dripping with mockery. "Olivia is just an orphan who knows nothing, it seems. I rescued you from that orphanage, and you've lived a life of luxury thanks to me. But you've never expressed gratitude."

Approaching me once more, he whispered in my ear, "Regrettably, I've taken in a worthless daughter like you." His words stung, and I shot him an angry glare.

His gaze continued to demean me. "You have no reason to be angry because the one who suffered was me. If I didn't take care of you properly, you'd be nothing but trash out there," he condescendingly laughed.

I clenched my fists tightly, suppressing the surge of emotions and resisting the urge to respond.

I knew he was doing this to provoke a reaction, to lure me into his trap, and to subject me to merciless punishment. I had vowed not to fall into Daddy's trap again. It wounded my pride deeply.

Dad scrutinized me closely. "What I said was the truth, wasn't it?" he grinned.
