Carter's POV
I knew we didn't have much time. With all my strength, I lifted her up in my arms, cradling her fragile body against mine, and began making my way towards the exit.
"Hang on, Carla," I whispered, my voice trembling. "Please, don't leave me." Every step felt like an eternity as Carla's breaths grew shallow. She was fading before my eyes, and I couldn't bear the thought of losing her.
We stumbled out of the area narrowly escaping death, and as I placed her gently in the backseat of our car, I could see the pain etched on her face. The drive to the hospital felt endless, filled with silent prayers and desperate pleas for her survival.
Minutes later, we arrived at the bustling emergency entrance. Medical personnel rushed to Carla's aid, wheeling her away on a stretcher. I could only watch helplessly as they whisked her into the operating room, disappearing behind the cold, sterile doors.
