Chapter 112. Say No to You

The thought that Scott was mad at me pricked at my conscience. Yet, I wasn’t about to back down on my quest to ensure he was fine—healthy.

“I’m sorry, my love. Maybe you don’t have to stay in bed all day.”

He slowly turned his head to face me. His eyes were dull, but there was a smile on his lips. My heart skipped a beat. God, he was so handsome.

“I love you,” I whispered softly. His smile widened.

“I love you too, boss lady.”

Maybe he wasn’t mad; maybe I had just assumed he was. Though I wouldn’t blame him if he were. Nobody likes being stuck in bed unless it’s by choice, which is something I enjoy doing most of the time.

We ate together and played games, but it still felt weird. He was more silent than usual, save for the compliments he gave me.
