Chapter 71. Pursuit

Jake’s POV

After my discussion with Talia, she walked out of my office. I knew that Talia was stubborn and wouldn’t listen. I knew that she might be planning something and I had to keep an eye on her.

Just then, Ava came into my office.

“Hey, father. Are you busy?” she asked as she entered my office, closing the door behind her.

“No, I’m not busy,” I said, putting down the file I was reading. “What’s up?”

Ava hesitated for a moment, and I could tell she was trying to figure out how to say what was on her mind.

“Why haven’t you made a move on my mother? You know how my mother is?”

I scratched my ear as I thought about what to say because I knew she was right. After I told her mother about my curse, she hadn’t spoken to me and I was a bit nervous to talk to her.

“Well... I…uh…” I stammered, trying to explain, but the words were not coming out the way I wanted.
