Book 4: Gene Makes Up His Mind

I wait in my cousin’s office, pacing back and forth, my skirt billowing out behind me every time I turn around. It’s a high-low, my favorite style, and it looks good on me. I can’t believe I was forced to wear such drab outfits while I was at Alpha Stephen’s mansion. The more time I spend in the castle, the more I can feel Emily coming back into herself.

As I wait for Gene to appear, I go over the conversation I had with Tristan. I think he bought it. I think he actually had some sympathy for me. I need to figure out a way to get him off by himself again so I can continue my sob story. I’ve thought of some other horrendous events I can tell him about. The more pathetic sounding I make myself, the better. I’m always in total control–even in the bedroom.
