Chapter 124. I Felt Safe Around Him

There were some very nice dresses that he would love to try on. He wondered if I would let him pick something out for myself. The last time I wore something that expensive was when we were in college. I sighed to myself, knowing that this was probably the most expensive dress I owned.

After the sales associate handed me the bag, I paid and thanked them before making my way back outside. Jake and I went to the same high school, so we were practically attached at the hip. I haven’t dated anyone since, though.

“What are you thinking about?” I questioned, noticing that he was deep in thought.

Jake snapped back to reality and grinned. “Nothing. Just wondering where to take you for dinner tonight. You must be starving.”

“Actually, I am starving. I hope that restaurant isn’t too expensive.”

He laughed lightly and grabbed my hand, pulling me toward the car parked nearby. I followed him with ease, not caring how long we walked if it meant spending time with him.
