Chapter 78. To Live Without You
I picked my purse back up from the ground and set it down on the bed. Without wasting any time, I opened the door and stepped outside the room. As I looked up, my eyes connected with the man standing at the end of the hallway.
To my surprise, his eyes didn’t seem as cold and angry as I had anticipated. Instead, they were filled with concern, worry, and sadness. We both remained silent, neither of us wanting to break the tension between us.
We stood there for what felt like an eternity, neither of us knowing what to say. That was until I noticed a small tear rolling down his cheek. Averting his gaze from mine, he tried to hide his emotions, but I could sense his pain and guilt.
I frowned and took a step forward, reaching out to wipe away the tear. My touch was gentle as I wiped away the single tear that rolled down his cheek. He closed his eyes and leaned into my touch, trying to conceal his face so that it wouldn’t be visible.
