“So, when should we be expecting a little Ana or puppy Theo?” Charlotte asks as we walk around the store looking at clothes. We’re at the mall. Theo gave me his black card again, though I don’t plan to waste his money this time around. It feels so nice how things are great between us.

“Not anytime soon,” I say as I check a shirt on the rack. I put it back after I realize how ugly it is.

“Why? I thought things were good between both of you now,” Chloe says.

“Things are wonderful between us, but Theo and I have decided to wait until I’m a little older. We want to avoid getting me pregnant while I’m still going to school.” This is what we’ve been telling everyone who asks us why we haven’t completed the mating process. The part about it being because of school is something I added on my own. I want the lie to be more believable.
