Having hopped on the first boat, I found at the Iridian Bay and left for Asterisk seven days ago without as much as a blanket to cover myself with, the frigid winds creep into my body cells and freeze my bones. I won’t blame myself, for as Assar guided me to the way of the water, he never warned me of the cold winds of the black river. In fact, in my state of mind, then, I wouldn’t have cared.
The days I spent on the river have tapered my emotions to an extent. The first couple of days, I remained still like a statue throughout, crying in my heart as mystery consumed me, but more days passed, and the harsh physical conditions pulled me back to reality.
My teeth clatter as I observe my fellow passengers covered up in fur, feasting on warm food they had somehow managed to prepare. The spicy scent tortures me, and I swallow severely.
